Say hello to the Magellanic Penguin: one of 18 penguin species in the world. (Clements, 2015) Although mighty, they cannot combat the looming consequences of environmental destruction. Spending 75% of their life in the water, oil spills have wreaked havoc on not only their habitat—but their health and posterity as well (Stokes, 2014).
Help offer hope to these beautiful creatures by educating you and your loved ones about the tragedies of petroleum fouling.

PREENING

All aviary species partake in a hygienic behavior known as preening (Clements, 2015). You may observe avians utilizing their beaks to clean their feathers—this exhibition is preening (Clements, 2015). This practice is crucial to survival, but is tainted by the expulsion of oil deposits onto oceanic habitats (de Mendonça Santos, 2019).

Migratory Behaviors

Avid swimmers, migration is a familiar behavior to these creatures of habit (Pütz, 2007). Their average travel distance during the wintering months is about 4000 miles (Pütz, 2007)!

Breeding

Penguins are monogamous creatures—breeding with their partner only for many breeding seasons in succession (Gandini, 2014).
